Myrtle Beach, SC — ZIPS Car Wash is proud to recognize one of the inspiring winners of its Hero Essay Contest, a program designed to encourage students to reflect on the individuals who shape their lives through courage, kindness, and everyday impact.
Through the contest, students were invited to share stories about their personal heroes—those who lead by example and make a meaningful difference. One standout essay came from Elivia Covington, a student at St. James Intermediate School in Myrtle Beach, who wrote a heartfelt tribute to her mother.
Elivia’s essay captured the essence of the program, describing her mom as her constant source of strength, love, and inspiration. She highlighted her mother’s unwavering dedication—always putting her children first, showing up even after long work shifts, and continuing to support school projects and daily challenges. Elivia shared that she admires her mom’s hard work, confidence, compassion, and resilience.

Reflecting on her win, Elivia said, “Next week is my state testing and this win has given me the confidence to do awesome on testing.”
