Oh, a heads-up for our busy readers - Mother’s Day 2024 is on Sunday, May 12. Mark your crowded calendars now!

And don’t stress…

MOTHER’S DAY IS ALREADY COVERED

No matter which gift you choose this Mother’s Day, rest easy. Your mom is happy to simply have your company.

Even a phone call will make her smile. Moms are wise, so they know what’s important, and that is…relationships. Also, they know what you did in 8th grade, so the jig is up!

One key to remember, though, is this.

Set time aside so your visit isn’t rushed when you see mom on her special day. We Americans are busier than ever. It is easy to feel and be rushed all the time, even when we intend to make time for those who mean the most to us.

Knowing that, here are three keys to slowing the pace so you have a relaxing Mother’s Day this year.

MINDFUL TIPS TO PREPARE FOR MOTHER’S DAY

  1. Each evening, carve out just ten minutes to think about how you want to spend your time the next day.
  2. No to-do list is written in stone. Ask yourself what is essential and erase some tasks.
  3. Who says Mother’s Day has to be limited to one Sunday? Visit her the Sunday before also, as a surprise! This doubles the visit time and ensures at least one visit is less rushed.

Alright. You are good and prepped with spring gift ideas for mom, and you have strategies for a memorable visit. Now’s the perfect time to look at those amazing women who have changed the auto industry over the past century.

WOMEN’S “MOMUMENTAL” ACHIEVEMENTS IN AUTOMOBILE HISTORY

ZIPS Car Wash gift cards were not around in 1927, but Aloha Wanderwell was in a hurry anyway. Wanderwell shocked the world with her epic drive around the globe (1922-1927). It was a first for a female driver. Can you believe she set this Guinness World’s Record in a Ford Model T? Unbelievable!

Don’t forget Maude Tull, though. This vibrant lady from Inglewood, California holds the record for being the oldest female driver. She started driving at age 91, according to Guinness. They say age is just a number, and ladies like Ms. Tull prove that life’s odometer can keep rolling even after nine decades.

Ok, two more names to mention as we wrap up. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who have helped raise or care for a child. It matters more than you know.

  • Debrah Miceli was the first female driver in a Monster Jam competition in 1999.
  • Mary Anderson noticed drivers struggling in bad weather, so she developed the automatic windshield wiper blade.
